Sensory Kids

The Sensory Kids Store™ at Bellybum was born out of a desire to help parents of kids with developmental differences easily find what you need in a warm, inviting, "typical" store. That said, this new addition to Bellybum® offers something for everyone! Fantastic developmental toys, therapeutic aides and sensory clothing.   

As a parent of multiple children with developmental differences, I know how hard it can be to find the things you need. After years of scouring endless catalogues, medical & industrial websites; and ultimately relying heavily on our therapists, doctors and educators to assist us in finding all of the products we required to support the unique needs of each of our children—I resolved to change the experience for fellow parents struggling with the same issues. Frankly, it's tough enough having a child with extra needs, why does it have to be hard to shop as well?

With ease of navigation in mind, you may notice that we have simplified our categories in The Sensory Kids Store™ to avoid 'clinical' descriptions and terminology whenever possible. How many parents and children really know the what "proprioception" is anyway? And you shouldn't have to! In The Sensory Kids Store™, all you need to know is your child and what they need. Does your child need help with balance? There's a category for that. Do they need help with everyday skills? There's a category for that too…and when all else fails, you can always do a simple keyword search.

We know there are millions of redundant products on the market, we just don't think you should you have to wade through them all to find "the best." That's why we've done the legwork for you. We have limited our product offerings in each category to items that we, our consulting professionals, other parents and respected organizations such as AblePlay™ have deemed the finest toys and tools on the market. Furthermore, we vow to maintain our high standards over time and will continually search for and add new, improved & greener products to our store.

Finally, you may notice that we have chosen not to list each product multiple times in different categories—you may find on other more clinical sites. The truth is that most everything can be listed under multiple senses: If a toy is colorful, one could argue it is "visual." Because of the finely tuned nature of our product choices, we have opted to list items under the primary category for which they are intended: For example, a Musical Instrument will be found under "using my ears." That said, you will find more detailed lists of "SENSE/SKILL" applications for each product in their individual product descriptions.
