Why Babywear?
- Baby becomes calm & cries less when in the sling
- Baby learns more and becomes smarter with continued wearing
- Communication improves significantly between baby and wearer
- Carried babies are more secure, becoming independent earlier
- Moms who wear baby are at less risk of postpartum depression
- Wearers get hands-free time while maintaining a close bond with baby
Below is detailed information and links to user manuals for all of the babywearing products we offer at Bellybum. We are committed to the safety of you and your baby. Our products have been carefully chosen with this in mind. We believe these products are among the safest, highest quality, and most ergonomic carriers on the market.
As well, while some of our carriers are capable of being used as 'side-slings,' we highly discourage this type of carrying. We encourage you to take care of your backs—which means carrying your child centered on your body with weight distributed equally. Side-carrying—while sometimes necessary for short periods of time—is not healthy for your back, hips and pelvis.

SIZING
The Baby K'tan Baby Carrier is sized to fit the adult who will be carrying the child. Age or weight of child is not a factor in sizing.
Click here for US Sizing Chart
Carrier size generally corresponds to your fitted (tight) t-shirt size.
The Baby K'tan Baby Carrier is made of 100% cotton. The carriers are meant to fit snugly to allow for stretching. Accordingly, if the carrier feels a bit snug the first time you put it on, this does not necessarily mean it is too small. After fully placing your baby in the carrier and spreading open the fabric, your Baby K'tan should fit you more comfortably.
SIZING TIPS
Each person is shaped differently, and like clothing, some people may fit into more than one size or fall in-between sizes on the above sizing chart. The following additional sizing tips should be used as a guide to assist you in ordering the optimal size.
- If you fall in-between sizes on the above sizing chart, CHOOSE SMALLER SIZE.
- If you are petite - 5'2" or under - CHOOSE SMALLER SIZE.
- If you are pregnant, use pre-pregnancy size to determine appropriate carrier size. Carrier size generally corresponds to pre-pregnancy fitted (tight) t-shirt size.
- Only go up in size selection if you are 6 feet or taller.
- When trying on the Baby K'tan Baby Carrier (without your child inside), the lowest point of the carrier should fall just below your chest and above your navel.
When wearing your child in the carrier, the lowest point of the carrier may fall at your navel or waist, but should not fall below your hips.
- When carrying your child in the Baby K'tan Baby Carrier: if the lowest point of the carrier falls at or below your hips, choose a smaller size; if the lowest point of the carrier falls at your chest, choose a larger size.
- When carrying your child in the Baby K'tan Baby Carrier, if the carrier feels too loose (i.e., child feels insecure, legs are bumping child's body as you walk, or carrier easily slips off your shoulder), choose a smaller size.
- The size of the Baby K'tan Baby Carrier is not based upon your child’s age or weight. The cross-stretch of the cotton knit fabric and the eight different carrying positions enables the carrier to grow with your child.
Accordingly, you should not require a larger size as your child grows and develops from a baby to a toddler (up to 35 lbs).
NOTES
The Baby K'tan Baby Carrier is made entirely of 100% natural cotton knit fabric. The Carrier should fit snugly and securely on you and your child. For optimal fit, wash and tumble dry - this enables the carrier to conform more snugly to your body. If you are new to baby wearing, you may think the Carrier is too small, however, a snug fit is optimal for securely carrying your child and for good back support. The cotton knit fabric enables the Baby K'tan Baby Carrier to stretch slightly to conform to you and your child.
It is important to us at Bellybum that you obtain a Baby K'tan Baby Carrier with the optimal fit, so that you and your baby are comfortable and secure. Therefore, if the carrier you purchased does not fit correctly, you may exchange it for the proper size in accordance with our exchange policy.
If you require any assistance in choosing the proper size, a Bellybum customer care professional would be happy to assist you over the phone or by email. You can also call Baby K'Tan directly toll free at (866) YES KTAN (866-937-5826) or by email to info@babyktan.com.

Maximum carrying comfort—For children up to 2 years
The Comfort Carrier provides optimum weight distribution and lightens your load, thanks to the adjustable waist belt and shoulder straps. Most of the weight is transferred to your hips, so you can carry your little one for longer periods without wearing out your back.
You can use this baby carrier healthfully from when your child weighs 13 lbs/6 kg (around 2 months) until 31 lbs/14 kg at most (2-3 years). This carrier is not approved for newborn carrying.
CARRYING POSITIONS
There are three carrying options for this carrier:
(1) Child facing inwards with normal leg position
(2) Child facing inwards with wide leg position
(3) Child facing outwards with normal leg position and head support folded down.
Your child's leg position can be varied from normal to wide for flexible, enhanced comfort. As well, this carrier offers the flexibility to have your child facing you or facing outward. As with any carrier, we do not recommend outward facing carrying once your child weighs 25 lbs+ or if the length of your child begins to cause any forward strain on your lower back (whichever occurs first). You should always be able to stand comfortably upright.
SPECIFICATIONS
From 13 lbs to 31 lbs/6 kg to 14 kg (around 2 months to 2.5 years). PLEASE NOTE! Maximum weight facing forwards is 12 kg/26 lbs.

Catbirdbaby Pikkolo
Please click here for complete Catbirdbaby Pikkolo Instructions
The Pikkolo is a cross between the Baby Bjorn Comfort Carrier and the ERGO Carrier. It is a lighter weight version of those Mei Tai style carriers with the flexibility to go from Newborn to 40 lbs. with the addition of the extra Support Belt. This carrier offers the most flexibility with 6 carrying positions which makes it a great option for expecting parents or babies who are smaller or like to face outward.
*Please note, once your child is long enough or heavy enough that front carrying causes you to lean forward with any strain on your lower back—it is no longer healthy for you to carry in this position and you must switch to inward facing or back carrying. You should always be able to stand comfortably upright.
ERGObaby Carrier
The ERGObaby Carrier is one of our top selling products. It is the perfect choice for families who are practicing Attachment Parenting. As well, it is our top pick for bigger babies and toddlers, or parents who want to be able to carry their children for a longer range of time. It provides superior waist support and the sturdy, woven fabric does not sag or stretch over time ensuring a safe, snug fit for the life of the product.
It should be noted that this carrier can not be used for outward facing!
With the addition of the newborn insert, this carrier can be used from newborn to up to 38 lbs. However, once your child is long enough or heavy enough that front carrying causes you to lean forward with any strain on your lower back—it is no longer healthy for you to carry in this position and you must switch to back carrying. You should always be able to stand comfortably upright.
